Which Alta Via wheelset is right for me?
It depends on how and where you ride.
RC.45 is our most versatile wheelset, combining a 45 mm front and 55 mm rear rim to deliver aerodynamic efficiency with predictable handling across varied terrain.
RC.65 is designed for riders who prioritise speed at race velocity. Its 65 mm depth provides a highly aerodynamic profile while remaining within UCI regulations.
RC.78 is our dedicated high-speed option, developed specifically for time trialling and racing where aerodynamic efficiency is the priority. Pair with RCD Disc wheel for the ultimate time trial setup.
If you are looking for one wheelset to do everything, the RC.45 is the natural choice. If maximum aerodynamic performance is the priority, the RC.65 or RC.78 is where Alta Via gets serious.
What is the difference between carbon and steel spokes?
Carbon spokes allow us to reduce system weight while maintaining the stiffness and aerodynamic performance required for race use.
Our wind-tunnel testing found that the carbon-spoked configuration delivered an average aerodynamic benefit of approximately 1% / 2.75 W, with a maximum measured improvement of up to 4% / 18 W compared with the steel-spoked configuration under our test conditions.
Carbon spokes also reduce system weight by approximately 9% compared with our equivalent steel-spoke builds.
Are Alta Via wheels tubeless ready?
Yes.
All of our current carbon wheelsets feature hooked, tubeless-ready rims and are supplied with tubeless rim tape and valves installed.
They can also be used with compatible clincher tyres and inner tubes.
What tyre size should I use?
Our wheelsets are optimised around modern wider road tyres.
For the RC range, we recommend 28 mm or wider labelled tyres.
Our wind-tunnel testing found particularly strong performance with 28 mm tyres, while 30 mm tyres also performed well through mid-range yaw angles.
For riders looking to optimise the complete aerodynamic system, we recommend the Pirelli P ZERO Race SL-R TLR.
What is the internal rim width?
Our current RC range uses a 23.5 mm internal rim width with a 33 mm external width.
The profile has been developed around modern wider road tyres to create an efficient tyre-to-rim transition and maintain aerodynamic performance at real-world riding speeds.
What warranty do Alta Via wheels have?
All Alta Via wheels are covered by a 5-year UK warranty against manufacturing defects.
We build our products to be ridden hard, tested under load and used in the environments they were designed for.
The warranty covers manufacturing defects but does not cover damage resulting from crashes, misuse, incorrect installation, modifications or normal wear and tear.

Can Alta Via wheels be serviced?
Yes.
Our wheels are designed to be serviceable, with replacement bearings, freehub bodies, spokes and other selected components available directly from Alta Via.
For major servicing or carbon spoke replacement, we recommend using a qualified bicycle workshop or contacting Alta Via for guidance.
Can I customise my wheelset?
Yes.
