Precision engineered for race-grade efficiency

Wind Tunnel Testing

We did not ask you to take our word for it, so we went to the wind tunnel.
Alta Via builds race-grade wheels for one purpose: to help you ride faster for the same human effort.
The RC.65 was developed for riders who care about measurable speed; time triallists, road racers and triathletes who know that every watt matters.
We tested our Alta Via Wheelsets at the Silverstone Sports Engineering Hub.
The Alta Via wheelset range was tested under controlled wind tunnel conditions across multiple speeds and yaw angles to measure aerodynamic drag.
The result? The Alta Via RC.65 delivered the lowest average full-system CdA of every wheelset tested.
In simple terms: less drag, fewer watts wasted, more speed from the power you already produce.

RC.65. The most aerodynamically efficient full-system wheelset tested

RC.65 outperforms Roval CLX ll up to ~10° Yaw
  • Total Average Improvement: 1% / 5W (Max 3% / 15W)
RC.65 outperforms DT Swiss ERC 1400 everywhere
  • Total Average Improvement: 6% / 10W (Max 8% / 23W)

Alta Via Wheelset Results

  • RC.65 provides optimal CDA with a total average Benefit 1.27% / 6W (Max 5% / 19W).
  • Carbon Spokes perform better than Steel with a total average Benefit 1% / 2.75W (Max 4% / 18W).
  • RC.45 outperforms DT Swiss across the board, with a total Average Improvement: 3% / 3W (Max 10% / 12W).
Both Alta Via wheelsets reduce overall system weight compared to the benchmark wheelsets tested.

Tyre Testing

  • 28mm tyres are optimal at lower and higher Yaw ranges. Total Average Benefit (28mm): 1.5% / 1.5W (Max 4% / 3W)
  • 30mm tyre outperforms 28mm tire throughmid-range Yaw angles.
